Through My Father's Mask / The Eyes

Through My Father's Mask

One day I went on a walk
And a stranger asked to come along
He asked if we could have a talk
And maybe sing a song
He must've seen my many tears
For otherwise why would he ask
He acted as though he'd known me for years
Like he could see right through my mask
Then this stranger told me his thoughts
And in exchange I told him mine
I said "there are so many knots!"
And all he said was "it'll be fine."
I said "you remind me of my Dad that died,
But I'm sure he's up in heaven."
He wiped my tears as I cried
And said "I died when you were seven."
Then he turned around and flew away
And we both went where we belong
Then I hollered after him "Come back some day."
For we never sang our song.

The Eyes

Look deep in her eyes
And then you'll see
All that lies behind
You'll see she cries
Like you and me
But that's not all you'll find
You'll find a soul that lies inside
More beautiful than her face
You'll find a hole
Where she hides
Her darkest saddest days
And don't be fooled
By her hand that tries
To wipe away her tears
And don't be ruled
By the eyes
That lie amidst her fears

I Touch The Glass

I see a girl with many tears
I see a girl with many fears
I see a girl with a broken heart
I see a girl falling apart
I see a girl too scared to show
Just what it is she may know
I see a girl, she can't see me
I see a girl that doesn't know she
I see a girl all confused
I see a girl feeling used
I see a girl without a Dad
I see a girl that's very sad
I see a girl that's never right
And her heart and head is full of fright
I see a girl that's never whole
I see a girl without a soul
Her hands are cold, her knees are weak
She's starting to fold and can not speak
I touch the glass and start to fear
The girl I see, in the mirror
