King of the Mountain

King of the Mountain

When we were young, our hearts still free
minds innocent to the world we now see.
We laughed and played, we fought and cried,
pinkie sweared and sometimes lied.

I knew even then there would be no other,
the reigning king of the mountain, my brother.
To me, more than a protector or friend.
A hero and legend until the end.

As time went on, we grew and changed.
Made friends, lost loves, behavior though strange.
Our sibling bond at times was strained,
remained untouched by the blood in our veins.

At last, we made it! Were finally grown,
raising families of our own, Our children
now are full of dreams they're love an
endless flowing stream.

I look at them and begin to see
they're a lot like you, a lot like me.
My heart fills up with pride and joy
I long to see that fair-haired boy.

Pride and anger, now replace
The bond now broken, not a trace
The boy and girl no longer see
Forgiveness lets your heart be free.

The girl in me still thrives, still knows
The bond still there, the blood still flows
As tears now fill my soul and heart
Silence threatens bonds to part.

Yet in the little girl in me,
the love for you still grows you see.
The pride still here, your not forgotten,
you'll always be the King of the Mountain
