Goodbye My Friend
Goodbye My Friend
Life's roads, they lead us many ways
we never know just where,
There's some so filled with laughter
and some real tough to bear.
It's hard when something leaves your life
the pain you feel inside,
Cause you gave your all, your heart and soul
this feelings hard to hide.
Oh my, how I do miss you
the way you looked at me,
With a trust, a way of knowing
that I'd be there faithfully.
I miss the way you'd tilt your head
when your name you'd hear me speak,
And wrinkle up your little nose
and give a "hello" squeak.
I'd usually give your head a scratch
and bring you close to me,
I miss the way you snuggled close
and sometimes tickled me!
I wish that I could feel once more
your warmth up next to me,
With your furry big fat tummy
pressed as close as it could be.
I can't reach out and stroke your cheek
or see you bounce across my bed,
Ducking underneath the covers
and sticking out your head.
You really were a special friend
and no aggression did you show,
For you only knew the life I gave you
and the care so you could grow.
The spot you filled with so much joy
is now filled with such pain,
For life without you in it
is clearly NOT the same.
So goodbye my "Mr. Jeeters"
its tough to say so long,
But your memory's deep inside me
Alive, and Well, and Strong!
