West of the Dune

West of the Dune

As I sailed the oceans roar
my hope to be home soon
I headed north along the shore
to her reflection in the moon.

I destined along the leeway
a mist of memories left behind
If only to find my way
she truly would be mine.

She lives on a driftwood beach
shadowed by the moon
She's at a place that I could reach
Just west of the dune.

The horizon is endless to the land
the sea is salted by each tear
Time becomes grains of sand
As I long for her to appear.

My heart drifts the tides at sea
Floating dreams of yesterday
Will this love come back to me
or drown or sail away.

The ocean breeze fills my sails,
a candle flickers in her room
as I tack the white cap swells
Just west of the dune.

And as I passed by her shore
I glanced east just to see
If the love that I adore
shall glance west to see me.

Her hair flows like a gentle wind
as she walks along the sand
I wondered if my heart would mend
She then held out her hand

The clouds are now forgiving
I am guided by the moon
For my true love is the one living
Just west of the dune
.
