"Only From Afar..."
"Only From Afar..."
I forgive you father
For you know that you have sinned
In the name of your true family
Your very next of kin
I don't care what you were thinking
Or the state of mind you were in
You left our hearts for breaking
And neglected us time and again
You were a father of convenience
Yours of course I mean
Whenever you felt guilty
You would show up on the scene
You would take us on our birthdays
To buy a little love
But were nowhere to be found
When push had come to shove
Mom was there to raise us
Alone in a world of harm
She gave us love in person
And held us in her arms
So if you chose to be a father
Why did all that change?
Because life to you dear father
Is nothing more than a game...
A game of lies, of cons, and of plots...
Of junk car makeovers, and time share lots
You promised us things that we never got
You promised us love, but I bet you forgot
So continue on dear father
Where ever it is that you are
Hauling a load of junk
Or working on a car
You may never know who we really are
And maybe we still love you
But, it's Only From Afar...
